New Zealand Football is shifting from COMET to Sporty.co.nz for its National Registration System. This new partnership will provide a comprehensive solution for online registrations, club member management, team entries, competition management, and live scoring.

This change will bring numerous benefits, including partnering with a local provider who understands the New Zealand sporting landscape.

Mike Purchas, CEO of Sporty, is thrilled to have been selected to deliver the solution.

“New Zealand Football went through a robust vendor selection process using a mix of internal working groups and external expertise. We are enormously proud that Sporty was selected as the upgrade path for the sport of football. We already supply some services to Federations and many football clubs, and we’re excited to expand the scope of this under a national agreement,” Purchas said.

Purchas also commended NZF for choosing a New Zealand based supplier.

“We knew we could tick the boxes for system functionality, reliability and speed. We also have a great team of dedicated Kiwis here in New Zealand to provide highly responsive local support if it’s needed,” he said.

The technology is being made available nationally from the end of 2025 onwards under an initial five-year contract, with some Federations opting to upgrade sooner. The strengthened relationship between NZ Football and Sporty is also expected to benefit all sport in New Zealand as a whole.

Purchas stated, “NZ Football now joins other national sports organisations including Netball NZ, NZ Rugby League, Touch NZ and many more on the Sporty platform. Whenever a sport chooses Sporty, it helps our Kiwi platform continue evolving to meet the needs of all Kiwis. We look forward to NZF having direct input into the ongoing development of Sporty.”
