This website provides all the information that football clubs need to use the system.
If your club doesn't already have a login for Sporty, complete this form and someone will respond within 2 business days to help you obtain access. Once your club has a login, you're able to create logins for your other club administrators.
IMPORTANT: If your club has NOT yet configured your official NZ Football Registration form with Sporty for 2026 please ensure your form is CLOSED to prevent registrations until you are ready. Instructions are here.
Clubs create a Team in TeamBuilder to enter it into a competition.
Step 1: Login
Go to the site for your Club with Sporty. If you’re unsure, find it at www.sporty.co.nz/clubs (then bookmark it in your browser to make it faster to go there again later).
Click Admin Login from the bottom of the page and login. If your club doesn't already have a login for Sporty, complete this form
Click the Dashboard icon from the top left of the page, then click the TeamBuilder tile.
Step 2: Select a competition
Whenever your Federation makes a competition available for your club, it will automatically appear here for you.
Click the comps button on the right to expand the list of available competitions.
Note the cut-off dates set by your Federation for entering teams and for selecting players. After those dates, only your Federation can make changes.
If you're unable to see a competition you expect, check with your Federation. It may not be ready for you yet.
Click the name of a comp to open the TeamBuilder view for that comp.
On the left you will see all of your players that registered for your club through the official NZ Football registration form. On the right you’ll see Grades within the Competition you selected (see image above). From here, you can enter teams into the competition and also allocate people to those teams.
Step 3: Enter your team into a competition grade
Click a Grade on the right to expand it. To add a Team to that Grade click the blue +Add Team link below each grade. This opens the Team entry form. Enter the details for your team. Note that you do NOT need to include your Club name into the name of your Team (the system knows your Club name automatically). Submit the form to save your Team.
✅ Your Team now exists and is automatically visible to your Federation in their SKED competition management system. Note: you can click a Team on the right and modify it up until the cut-off date shown. Thereafter, only the Federation can modify your Teams.
NZ Football has engaged Sporty to deliver extended services for all football clubs in NZ for free:
In addition, Sporty already provides other free web tools for all Kiwi clubs, such as a website builder (free version has restricted capacity and banner adverts), bulk eNewsletter sender, and a club mobile app that lets you send push notifications to your community.
If your club is already using Sporty either under a Free or VIP (subscription) plan, you'll automatically be enabled for the additional services provided by NZF in partnership with Sporty. You can assess your club's needs and decide whether to remain on your current plan or upgrade / downgrade* if you prefer.

* Normal notice is required as stated in your existing Web Services Agreement with Sporty if you wish to downgrade a plan
If you're using a third party member management system instead of Sporty, you can continue using that system for member management if you wish. To enable this you are required to complete this API connection request form. Third party systems such as ClubHub and Friendly Manager that were previously passing player registrations to COMET should be able to pass those registrations into Sporty from 1 January 2026 onwards.
However, every football club in New Zealand will now login to Sporty to perform all the other functions previously performed in COMET, such as setting red flags, creating teams / catalogues, and entering teams into competitions.
Clubs that want one single place to perform all member management are encouraged to upgrade to Sporty under either a free or VIP plan.
All football clubs in New Zealand were required to use the COMET registration system from 2018 - 2025 inclusive. Now that NZF has shifted from COMET to Sporty, the following data has been migrated automatically to Sporty for your club:
Note: Parent/guardian details have not been migrated from COMET to Sporty because the way this data was stored did not align with Sporty's more detailed caregiver fields, which require separate entries for first name, last name, email, and phone number. This means that these details will need to be entered afresh into Sporty when parents/guardians register players the first time in Sporty.
NZF retains an complete archive of all historical records from COMET if needed for future reference.
Q: Why can we see registration records for Coaches in 2025 when the person stopped coaching for our club in a prevoius season?
A. In COMET, Coaches were assigned a "Start" date when they first registered and, unless your club specifically terminated the Coach in COMET (which would set an "End" date), the system treated that person as active with your club indefinitely.
Registrations of Coaches in Sporty are seasonal. Therefore, if a Coach in COMET was still showing as active at the end of 2025, a registration for that coach in Sporty will appear in every season from when they first registered until 2025 inclusive.
What you can do:
If your club failed to terminate a Coach in COMET in the past, a registration for that Coach will show in Sporty up until the 2025 season inclusive. If you know the Coach ceased coaching for your club in a previous year, you can simply delete their registration for subsequent seasons in Sporty. This exercise is optional - going forward only Coaches that register with your club each season will appear in Sporty from 2026 onwards.
